Professional free software
A few different software products are available, all written by Ryan. All of these are available as free software so you can download and use them whenever and wherever you see fit. If you do want some help, I'm more than happy to provide an installation service. Hosting for these projects is also available if you desire. Get in touch for more details.
Aside from these I've been involved in creating customised products for various organisations. These generally are web-based applications that facilitate key internal functions and are usually placed on a corporate Intranet. Whilst , for reasons of confidentiality, I can't go into details the sort of applications I have worked on range from simple 100 line scripts to full featured, multi-user, secure web applications for functions like HR, CRM and social networking. If you are interested in hiring me for this kind of work, please get in touch. More information on my skills and experience can be found in the services section.
Ryan's In/Out Board (RyansIOB)
This is a small web-based in/out board. When placed on an Intranet it helps staff know where their colleagues are. It's designed for anyone with basic webserver administration skills to install and setup but once installed any user with a web browser can use it.
Core features
- Displays name, phone, status, comments and date/time for each staff member
- Staff are able to quickly change their status by either clicking on their name or calling the main script with a "name" parameter.
- It has a simple and clear interface and users can also search for the status of any staff member.
- Staff can be grouped into teams or departments. The resulting In/Out board can then be filtered by users to display just one team/department.

Ryan's Electronic Diary Sheet (RyansEDS)
This a web-based calendaring application which allows members of an organisation to keep informed of each other's whereabouts. Like the In/Out board, above, it is designed to be a simple shared calendaring application which does not require complex (and often proprietary) client/server software. It's designed for anyone with basic webserver administration skills to install and setup but once installed any user with a web browser can use it.
core features
- Simple to use and administer
- Week to a screen view
- Users can be grouped into (colour coded) departments
- No database required - uses simple text files for storage
- Tidies up after itself - deletes old storage files
- No special desktop software required - uses a standard a web browser
- Suitable for small-medium installations (< 100 users)
download and further information
You can find more information on Ryan's Electronic Diary Sheet such as downloading, support forums etc. at the project homepage.
Ryan's Database Application Framework (RyansDAF)
This is a new project which as yet doesn't have any releases. It will be a framework which enables the rapid deployment of web-based databases. Designed from the ground up to be used by non-technical users but powerful enough for complex relational database designs, this product will form the basis of a custom database hosting product in the future.
